Government contractors are being forced to adapt to an increasingly uncertain environment as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that is sweeping the United States.

This analysis addresses guidance issued by federal agencies, opportunities released by federal agencies, and related spending that has been disbursed by the federal government.

Highlights include:

  • The Pentagon and General Services Administration have issued the most significant guidance to federal contractors.

  • The majority of Covid-19 reported spending obligations, $7.2 billion out of $13.2 billion, has been disbursed by the Health and Human Services Department.

  • The departments of Defense, Health and Human Services, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are among the agencies that have released opportunities in May that are available for bid.

  • Congress is considering additional relief measures in a $3 trillion package, beyond the almost $3 trillion that has already been allocated.
