CBP was storing more than 200 million emails from old, unsupported applications that had been archived onto tapes using legacy mainframe software and needed to migrate a large quantity of legacy email data to a more accessible and usable format.
V3Gate, through its small business joint venture on DHS FirstSource II, teamed with eMag, a leading provider of data restoration solutions to restore this huge reservoir of unusable historical email correspondence. We needed to convert and reconstitute all of the container data into a readable format and move the data to a disk storage area where it could be stored and ultimately ingested into an enterprise archive system for use with the CBP existing eDiscovery solution.
